Zeroset T Anchor Grout Lighting Stands

Rotafix have had a long history supplying chemical anchors, such as Zeroset, for the erection of lighting systems and crash barriers on roads across the United Kingdom.

In this case study we will show a particular method used to mount bracketry to a concrete wall using Zeroset T Anchor Grout on the A470 that connects Cardiff to Merthyr Tydfil.

The location of the stands gave rise to cross winds, and wind bein generated by the passing high side vehicles. There is also considerable vibration from the heavy vehicles.

Lighting stands attached using Rotafix Zeroset T

As you can see in the photographs plates were mounted vertically to the concrete walls. Holes were drilled into the concrete walls. Zeroset T which as a gel-like consistency was then pumped into the holes. The plates had welded studs which were then inserted into the Zeroset T.

The cure on the Zeroset T is 40 mins achieving its ultimate tensile strength in 7 days. In this case, the standards were tested by an Independent Tester at the 3-day mark and the anchor grout achieved. This allowed the lighting stands to be erected and the project completed ahead of schedule.

Zeroset T has been specifically designed for anchoring bolts into diamond drill cut holes in reinforced concrete. When the cutting process leaves a very smooth hole some chemical anchors might struggle to find a surface key to aid bonding. This is not the case with Zeroset T its formulation and inclusion of nano-sized particles is very searching so adhesion is never an issue.

The Zeroset T formulation has been developed to displace water that might have accumulated in the holes. Zeroset T will cure underwater at temperatures as low as zero degree Celsius, hence the name.

Zeroset T is a thixotropic two-part epoxy filled with silicon carbide. The liquid epoxy provides a degree of flexibility where the silicon carbide that improves the compressive strength of the epoxy.

Zeroset T has been extensively tested to meet the requirements of the ISO 15274. It carries the CE mark so you can be assured that you are going to get a consistently reliable chemical anchor.

With the correction preparation, Zeroset T will adhere to high tensile strength stainless steel and galvanized. Please read the datasheets or speak to the Rotafix Technical Team to give you the correct methods for preparing surfaces.
